The screen pops up showing World Wide News anchorman Skip Morehead greeting the viewer with his indifferent face.
”Breaking news out of New York today. Renowned billionaire anti pro wrestling activist turned pro wrestler, Amelia Abernathy, scored a major victory in court this morning. Judge Philip Pierfoy issued an injunction on the contract between New Frontier Wrestling and Ms. Abernathy, which effectively halts the conditions therein, something that is huge for Ms. Abernathy as it prevents her from competing in any New Frontier Wrestling matches for the time being. Our legal correspondent, Buster Cherry, is live in New York at this time. Buster, what more can you tell us?”
The feed switches to a young, slick haired man with a hawkish grin standing on the steps or a large courthouse.
”All I can say is Ms. Abernathy had to call in some heavy favors and possibly greased some elbows on this one. This happened fast. She filed several lawsuits against NFW recently in relation to their lack of adequate security for her, and also the most recent filing in regards to NFW’s refusal to pay a helicopter fuel bill. She also filed a few more against them as fodder I’d say, but what it all boils down to is this: Those cases are gummed up in the court’s backlog, and the injunction ceases the contract she has with NFW until all court cases she filed against them are resolved. In Layman's Terms, her competition contract is on ‘pause’. Ms. Abernathy is not expected to win those cases, and quite frankly this hurts her in the long run as she will eventually have to honor the contract, but for now it’s a short term victory or a band aid fix if you want to call it that. This comes at a great time for Ms. Abernathy, as she was scheduled to wrestle for NFW in a tag team match next Tuesday, which of course will not happen now. That’s all I have at this time. Skip. back to you.”
The feed switches back to the studio where Skip Morehead nods and stoically peers into the camera.
”We’ll keep you posted of any new developments. We’ll be right back.”
