Entrance Theme:
"God is Dead?" - Black Sabbath
Entrance Description:
The arena dims considerably, with the lights around the screen and stage going completely dark. There are some flashes in the crowd, some lit-up cell phones to try and break through the manufactured murk, but there is nothing to see at all once the big screen goes black as well. A few moments of silence commences, followed by the haunting guitars of the classic Black Sabbath song "God is Dead?" hauntingly emanating through the Collision Center's PA system. Smoke starts to billow from the stage at the top of the ramp and a single, murky spotlight shines down on a darkened figure standing there. Ozzy Osbourne's voice, every bit as haunting as the music behind it, starts singing as the figure, revealed as Damon Cross, starts making his way down the ramp.
Reaching the ring without so much as a glance to the crowd at large, he looks left, then right, then grabs the ropes and hauls himself up onto the apron, stepping between the ropes and moving to a neutral corner of the ring as the music hardens. The spotlight follows, but nothing gets beneath the hood until Damon throws it back. Removing the sleeveless jacket, he tosses it aside along with his silver wolf's head cane and awaits the start of the match. No gestures to the fans, no acknowledgement of their reactions or lack thereof. The lights come back on and The Unforgiven has yet to move... as if the sound of the bell is the only thing that will rouse him from his fugue state.

Biography:
Damon's past is sordid at best, brutally dark at worst. He started as a clean-cut young man loaded with potential and a lot of charm but not a lot of smarts where life in the business was concerned. Considered a prodigy by his trainers, he was set to one day take over the wrestling school he trained at when the man who owned it retired. Plying his trade in the ring from an early age, he impressed quickly and earned his share of singles and tag team championships, even teaming with one of his trainers for a time. However, his other trainer, having turned down a darker path, took offense at some of Damon's actions and broke the young man's leg in a match as a warning, the first time that Damon got a taste of the dark side of wrestling.
Though he continued to wrestle in multiple companies, trying to reach the top level, there was always something or someone holding him back. That, and he was quite poor at managing his money and, as a result, his life. Meeting his first girlfriend, Sherry Anne Coleman, changed things for him; she taught him how to better manage his time and money and even talked him into taking classes online during his downtime, resulting in Damon earning a degree in Accounting early in his career. However, she was also indirectly responsible for his first full turn toward the evil side.
During an altercation at a bar after a show, Sherry found herself threatened by a former boyfriend looking to 'take her back where she belonged'. Though Damon tried to talk the situation down, matters took a turn for the violent, leading to a fight outside the bar. Snapping at some of the comments from the ex-boyfriend, Damon beat the young man to within an inch of his life, leading to the man's death after falling into a coma days after arriving at the hospital. As a result, Damon went to prison for a few years, which naturally put his wrestling career on hold, though Sherry did try to keep his hopes up and remained there for him until his release. Unfortunately, this laid waste to future plans, with his trainers deciding to renege on their verbal contract which would have seen Damon take over the wrestling school. This gave Cross the final shove into the darkness, leading to him becoming bitter, vengeful and ruthless in his approach.
Renaming himself Crossroads and wrestling under a mask resembling the Guy Fawkes mask from V for Vendetta, with Sherry at his side under the nomenclature Serenity, Cross tore through the roster of his trainer's new wrestling company until finally unmasking and demanding that he be given what he was promised as his trainer's retirement was nigh. Refused this, Damon blackmailed his bosses into giving him the power he sought, taking over as the General Manager of Ascension and the leader of the Crusade, a group containing at its peak himself, "Wicked" Ronnie Lester, Sylvia Lopez and Anica Townsend with Serenity as their management. It was not to last, however, as forgeries and admissions from others involved in his business led to his deposing as General Manager and the eventual dissolution of the Crusade. In the midst of this, in a rare one-on-one match, Damon lost to Trenton Page, drawing heavily the ire of a Yakuza gangster named Akio Tsuzuki.
Leaving the arena the same evening that he was fired, a car slammed into Damon's, putting him in the hospital with multiple serious injuries, including broken bones, a serious concussion and amnesia. In the process of recovering physically and mentally, Damon came to know one Danielle Anderson with whom he acquired feelings and she for him. However, after his departure from the hospital and during a dark period that he does not care to speak of, Damon suffered further assaults from the same men who attacked him and put him away in the first place. This came to a head recently, a tale told in length elsewhere, that saw Akio and Damon fight it out once and for all on the streets of San Francisco, ending with Akio acquired once more by his former boss, Kunzai. From there, Damon was back in the hospital but, after time spent recovering and trying to get his life together, and the coaxing of Danielle, Damon is ready to redeem himself.
Since his arrival in NFW, Damon has been on a career rollercoaster, going on a long undefeated streak that ended at the 2020 Vlad Blackheart Memorial Tournament where he "tripped at the finish line". Coupled with a loss in the follow-up ladder match, missing out on a title shot in the process, and falling into a brief slump, Damon began to become frustrated with himself and his failing efforts. His fiancee's departure from the sport due to multiple concussions did not help with this, but made him determined to defeat the woman who started that end for Danni: Sativa Neveah. Winning a battle royale for a title shot against the two-time World Heavyweight Champion, a melee in the office of Luthor Callaway caused the GM to make Damon and Sativa's title match happen that very evening... and Cross won his first-ever World Heavyweight Championship. Two weeks later at Invasion, after a grueling champion versus champion match with Anton Crowley of Trauma, Sativa cashed in a long-held title shot briefcase and started her third reign after defeating Damon. Instead of breaking Cross down, though, this made him even more determined to not only better himself, but to become champion again. His every effort is dedicated to not only becoming champion again, but being regarded as the best wrestler on the planet. A lofty goal, but one that he truly believes in.
Now a three-time former World Heavyweight Champion across two companies, Damon's recent trials and tribulations have caused a change in his demeanor. Feeling betrayed by people who he helped into the business and having his efforts brushed aside by many, the man has undergone a metamorphosis in terms of attitude and approach. His goals still include the acquisition of gold and the earning of the right to be called one of, if not THE, greatest wrestler out there. But there seems to be a darker motivation beneath it all. Is this the harbinger of him returning to his old ways? Is it something else entirely? Only time will tell. But for now, the man who now calls himself "Unforgiven" recognizes no friends or allies, no enemies or adversaries... only those who are peripheral to his path and those who are in his way.
