“What. Was. That?”
There was some additional patching that needed to be redone on members of Kwonspiracy after they interrupted the main event, specifically those who participated in the Monster’s Ball. Candi Bratton had long since left once the main event was over and Kwon had walked her out of the building, thanking her for helping her team out. She was not happy when she walked back into the locker room after the show was over.
“I’m serious. What was that? That is nothing that we ever talked about. Nothing.” Kwon is looking around the room. Jansen is scrolling through her phone. Lara has an arena beer in hand, though where she would have gotten it, no one could possibly know. Leah and Layla are sitting next to each other on a bench, confused at the direction of this conversation.
“Look, Boss. Not sure what you’re upset about. We did it just like you wanted,” Leah glances over at Lara for a moment before turning back to Kwon.
“I never said for you to do any such thing. When did I ever say to you that I wanted you all out there during the main event?”
Jansen still hasn’t acknowledged the conversation, but Layla speaks up, “Lara tolds us dat yous wanted us ta make sure dat she won, by any means necessary.”
Lara is about to take a healthy swallow of beer when all eyes suddenly turn to her.
Kwon walks over to her, “And when exactly did I say that, Lara?”
She slowly removes the cup away from her face, swallows what’s in her mouth and smiles, “I thought that’s what you would want.”
Kwon throws her hands up in the air, exasperated, “What I wanted was credibility. I wanted Kwonspiracy to prove that we could do things the right way. I didn’t want Sativa or anyone to say that Lara didn’t earn that championship on her own. If she had won it after all of that, we’d be looked upon as a joke. Everything they’ve been saying about us would be correct. We can’t do anything without resorting to cheap tactics. Now, I’m not saying we stop using those types of tactics when it suits our needs, but we didn’t need that tonight. Win or lose, if Lara had gone toe to toe with Sativa Nevaeh, we would have gained at least some respect within the company. We are at the same level we’ve been.”
Jansen finally speaks up, “So what you’re saying is that Lara lied to us about you wanting us to come down into the ring.”
“I wouldn’t call it lying…” Lara starts to say.
“It was lying, Lara!” huffs Kwon. She finally takes a deep breath. “Okay. Look, what happened, happened. It’s done with. We gotta move forward. We took a beating tonight and got no wins, but we will recover.”
“I have a plan B. Kan Tai…”
Kan Tai who’s been silent all this time, glances up. “Hm?”
“We’re going to move forward with your plan. It’ll go into effect in a couple of weeks,” Kwon says.
Hope looks confused, “What plan? We weren’t told about a new plan.” Kan Tai just grins at her.
Kwon shakes her head, “This is something that Kan Tai and I came up with a few weeks ago. It doesn’t really involve anyone else so we didn’t bring it up. You’ll see when it happens.”
Kan Tai nudges Hope in the ribs with her elbow, “Yeah, none of your business.” They both laugh, then seriously Hope whispers, “Tell me later, okay?”
Kwon turns to Leah and Layla, “I need you to be actively trying to get your hands on those tag team championships. The Skillz Vendorz retained tonight and the next shot will probably go to someone on Trauma, so when it comes back around to Collision, we need you to get that title shot.”
“You got it,” responds Leah.
“What about my rematch? With all that shit going on, I should get another match with that bitch, Sativa.”
Everyone suddenly turns and looks at Lara.
“What?”
“Lara, there’s no rematch. You sent everyone out there. And you still lost. The plan you came up with backfired and you lost the match. There will be no rematch. You’re going to have to step aside. It’s time for plan C.”
Hope blinks and asks, “Wait. There’s a Plan C too? Another secret?”
“Not a secret, a new direction.” Kwon turns her attention to Jansen who is still scrolling through Instagram on her phone. Soon everyone is looking at Jansen and she suddenly looks up and notices everyone looking at her.
“What?”
(Fade.)
