MAX LEBRUN VS. ASHE CORVIN
The opening match saw Max LeBrun taking on Ashe Corvin. You could tell Ashe was frustrated that he hadn’t picked up a victory in this tournament yet and he was looking to end this one early. He almost did too in the first minute when he came charging out of the gates and delivered a slingblade and following it up with a double springboard moonsault that saw Max just barely kick out. Ashe continued to press on, using his strikes and technical ability to keep his advantage on Max. Ashe kept pushing, delivering an STO and locking in a Koji Clutch. He wrenched on Max, really putting the pressure on him. Max was eventually able to shift his weight and force Ashe’s shoulders down to the mat and get a nearfall.
Ashe though kept up the pressure. Max tried to battle back though. He’d hit a couple of moves, starting to string some offense together, but Ashe would quickly shut it down. The crowd thought Ashe had the match won when he delivered an electric chair driver that Max barely kicked out of. After that, Ashe was clearly frustrated as he argued with the ref. That slight argument was enough to allow Max to recover though and as Ashe turned around, he walked into the Slapshot and Max was able to pick up the win.
