Disclaimer
This series contains elements of a supernatural nature and will play a parody of the Judao-Christian faith. It is not meant to be mocking or subversive but simply done for a creative outlet.
You. Were. Warned.
The supernatural elements of this storyline were not always present. “The Pact” is a concept that kept Jesse’s original “Walk the Line” idea alive while honoring that none of them had these “abilities” five years ago.
I hope you enjoy it.
I give you Chapter 16!
Civil War 2
Chapter 16
Revivify
Location: Asheville, North Carolina
Date: March 17th
Time: 6:15 AM
Fresh off his conversation with Jessie, Lucifer made his way through the castle heading back toward the elevator that would take him back down into his solitude. He didn’t need the third floor to be alone.
That was simply a subterfuge to begin Jessie down the path he wanted her to take. Nothing more.
Passing by the hallway he passed by the doorway to the kitchen where Shamsiel, Sariel, and Remiel were sitting over a bit of breakfast. Each of them inclined their heads at his presence but he didn’t so much as glance over.
He crossed past the doorway on his way to the elevator when something stopped him dead. Lucifer stood frozen with his head down and his eyes looking up at the easternmost window. At that moment every Demon in the room stood with a tense tightening of the shoulders and every hound on the ground let out a whimpering whine with their bellies low and their hackles up.
Abaddon appeared on the stairs dressed in a sports bra and a towel around her waist. The sweat covering her body stuck her hair to the side of her face.
“SARA!”
Sariel, Sasha, and Remi came out of the doorway to the Kitchen seconds later with Sariel looking up at the stairs.
“I feel it.”
“Why is there a Celestial presence here?!” Remiel asked her God.
Lucifer stood silent just staring out the window.
“They do not interfere.” Abaddon snapped. “What the fuck is going on?!”
The whole thing lasted less than a minute. Once it had subsided the Demons relaxed and the Hounds all returned to their patrols but the others all gathered around Lucifer as if awaiting some kind of instruction.
Lucifer never spoke a word. He crossed the room suddenly to a large bookshelf and ran his hands purposefully over them until he came to the one he wanted and ripped it from the shelf knocking books off to tumble to the ground. One of them took one of the Hounds in the tail, causing the great beast to jump and snap its teeth at the sudden impact.
When Lucifer stopped again and leveled those cool empty eyes on it….it fell back against the wall and yelped as if it had been struck across the face.
Lucifer then resumed his strides, passing by the others until he came to the table with their breakfast on it and swiped his hand across the table. Plates of bacon and eggs hit the linoleum floor with a shattering crash and the white-suited man spread open the book to a map of the U.S.
“Here.”
Was all he said as he jammed his finger nearly dead center in the state of Florida.
“It came from here.”
“How big an area?” Sariel asked her God looking down at the map.
“A hundred square miles?”
Shamsiel made a couple of hand gestures. Everyone there knew what she asked.
‘What was it?’
“It felt like a Celestial descending,” Lucifer whispered unable to hide the apprehension and fear in his voice.
“They don’t do that.” Abaddon replied angrily. “The Pact!”
“We haven’t exactly been keeping with it!” Sariel snapped staring at her God in annoyance.
The room fell silent as Lucifer slowly looked up into the eyes of Sariel. The two stared at one another for a moment and in that moment there was no cowed obedience in the face of the beautiful Asian woman. There was a strange confidence radiating from here.
Like sunlight.
Everyone looked between the pair as if confused at the sudden disobedience and knew that Sara was the only one who could get away with it. Lucifer’s most trusted and most loyal servant.
“I have my reasons.” Lucifer finally said, deciding for whatever reason not to push it.
Once again Shamsiel made a few gestures.
“So, what do we do?”
Lucifer looked away from the table back at a small group of black-eyed and veined Demons standing near the door.
“You and the Hounds go first.” He commanded. “We will follow behind.”
The demon inclined his head and turned leaving the room with the small group behind him. Lucifer turned his attention to the sweaty, towel-covered giantess.
“You are going to keep your instincts in check.” He told her in a cold warning tone. “Do you understand me?”
“Sire?” She asked, faking a look of insulted innocence.
“Do not play with me, Abaddon,” Lucifer warned. “If I come back here and the girl tells me you had been using this opportunity to further your cat and mouse game against her will? I will rip you from that body and send you straight back to Hell!”
Whatever Abaddon had been expecting, that wasn’t it. She swallowed hard and nodded gently.
“Understood, Sire….”

It had been a tense couple of days. The Sins had been markedly absent, and Danika offered few answers for anyone about what they had all seen. They had all witnessed what appeared to be Dean speaking to them followed by a handful of moments that seemed to show Dean forcing his way to the surface.
It was a situation that had left many questions and provided few answers.
It was nearly two full days before the beast reappeared. He threw the door to the house open with a thunderous crash and marched upstairs to the melody of heavy boot steps. The booted steps carried it through the house and to the door of the master study where Michael sat at the desk reading with Danika and the leader of the demons, John seated on the couch speaking quietly.
The door to the study banged open causing everyone in the room but Danika to jump and their eyes to move to the door. The beast stood in the door frame, disheveled and harried-looking, his eyes darting to Danika beneath the mask.
“You.” It hissed.
It crossed the room in two large steps and snatched her by the throat lifting her up off the couch. Michael and John both jumped up as Danika’s tiny frame dangled from his hand. Michael tried to hurry around the desk, but with one of his legs basically useless it was John that grabbed the beast by the arm.
“PUT HER DOWN!” He shouted.
The beast just growled and its hand tightened around her throat.
“What did you do to me?”
“DEAN!” John shouted.
The beast’s eyes instantly darted to the bald man and the hand holding Danika released leaving her to fall to the couch. She landed with a bounce on the cushions. The hand that had only seconds before been holding her darted to the side, driving the back of the hand into John’s face.
The bald man staggered backward, the force of the backhand enough to send him into the bookcase and the books to rattle.
“Watch your mouth.” It snarled.
John leaned on the bookcase with his hand holding his jaw and a betrayed look on his face. Danika was getting herself to a seated position when Michael made it to them. He grabbed the beast by the arm and spun him around.
“You will not abuse….UGH!”
Michael suddenly found himself flat on the ground as The Sins kicked the cane out from under him sending him crashing to the floor.
“Stay out of it.” It snarled and raised a foot to bring a stomp down on Michael’s back.
Suddenly a click sounded behind him and the beast felt a cold steel barrel pressed to the back of his skull. At that same moment the tip of a knife pressed softly into the fabric of his groin, just below the thigh.
Ashley stood behind him with a glock to the back of his head and beside her was Maiko with one of her blades in her hand pressed into the thigh of his raised leg.
The beast froze, his eyes narrowing suddenly and slowly his head turned to look behind him. As his body tensed to make his move a second barrel pressed into the side of the mask, this one held by Silk.
“Don’t.” Silk warned.
“How about everyone take a second and take a deep breath?” Danika asked.
“How about you explain?” The beast growled.
“Explain what exactly?”
It wasn’t The Sins that let out an aggravated growl….it was Ashley. The hand not holding the glock grabbed the handle of the other knife sticking out of the sheath on Maiko’s other thigh and pulled it with a steely hiss. A quick slash to the back of the forearm caused the beast to snarl.
“God dammit Devil Bitch….”
Ashley pointed to the arm with the point of the blade. Bright red blood ran down the back of the arm to the back of his hand.
“THAT!”
The masked beast growled again but slowly lowered his leg.
Hana hurried around him and helped Michael to his feet. Michael stared a hole through the side of The Sins head. Danika crossed her legs and blew out a deep breath.
“It’s difficult to explain.”
“Try.” Silk demanded. “I didn’t sign up for this shit and it’s weirding me out.”
Danika inclined her head and folded her hands over her lap.
“Think of the soul and the body like a mother and her child. The body and soul are connected by….a special kind of umbilical cord. In normal cases when the cord is cut the body begins to die….and after a certain period the cord is unable to be reattached. The brain isn’t firing anymore. The body’s nervous system is shut down….so if you were to reattach the cord? Nine times out of ten…nothing happens.”
“Death.” Maiko said from beside Ashley. “You’re talking about death.”
“Exactly.” Danika said with a warm smile. “It’s why the Sarcophagus was needed in my case. The cord connecting body and soul was long gone….so a new cord had to be created connecting the body inside the Sarcophagus and the soul. In His case, however, while the body was slowly decaying and would eventually fail the process was slowed exponentially by the presence of the curse…The Sins. The cord simply had to be reconnected from body to soul. And once it did?”
“Like a body being resuscitated.” Ashley mused. “So….you brought him back?”
“I did.”
“Why?” The irritated beast growled. “He surrendered. This body is MINE.”
“Both he and Michael misunderstood my advice,” Danika told it flatly. “My advice was never to unleash you, it was to harness you.”
“There was more to it than that.” Ashley told her just as flatly.
Danika offered little more than a shrug. Ashley knew the whole truth about it. She wasn’t ready to let him go yet.
“What does this mean now?” The creature growled.
“That depends entirely on him.” Danika informed it. “He has lost everything. Life. Marriage. Children. He may decide to stay in The Hollow.”
“I doubt it.” Ashley muttered.
Ashley knew him well, and knew that no matter what he had lost it wouldn’t take something like this lying down. It just wasn’t who the man was.
One of the jumpsuits wearing former Demons stepped into the room and walked directly to John speaking quietly to him. John listened a moment and then turned his attention to Michael.
“We have a bigger problem.” John told their leader.
Every pair of eyes in the room, including the annoyed pair within the mask the monster wore turned back to him.
“You sent Demons out to try and locate the missing components not found in the hall we pulled from that warehouse” John explained. “The Ocala team just arrived back.”
“And?” Michael asked. “Did they find what I need?”
“Yeah….”
“But?” Hana chimed in.
“They also found Demons and Hounds.”
“In Ocala?!” Michael demanded and the man nodded. “How many?”
“A dozen?” The man answered.
“The Team sent to Gainesville reports the same thing,” John said.
Danika placed his hand over her eyes and let out a deep sigh.
“He felt what I did.”
“The fuck do you mean?” Ashley demanded.
“Y’all…..” Silk whispered.
“I knew he would….” Danika explained to the group. “I just thought….he would just feel it from a southward direction…not this close.”
“....y’all….” Silk repeated.
While the group argued that Danika should have told them and five voices became one the half-masked woman Shadow walked to her partner's side and looked out the window at what had Silk’s attention.
“HEY!” Shadow shouted.
“What?!” The masked creature snapped and turned his attention to the pair at the window.
“We got company.”
Together they walked to the window and looked out. A small group of people were walking up the long dirt driveway. The beautiful and elegantly robed Sariel walked at their lead with her hand resting on the hilt of the Katana resting on her right hip. On her right walked Hana’s equally exquisite twin sister Remiel and on her left the mute Shamsiel with the sadistic trademark smile on her lips. Fanning out into a small half circle behind them were a dozen of the black-eyed and black-veined Demons. Three of the cow-size Hounds walked on each side of the group.
And ten feet behind them walked Lord Lucifer.
He’s found them.
“Would you mind if I hurt you? Understand that I need to….I wish that I had other choices…than to hurt the one I love.”
