The scene opens as we see Dr. Castiel Talbot making his way through the hotel where Marley Divata was staying in Australia. Once he reaches the right room, he knocks on the door and patiently waits as he clutches his walking cane in his right hand. Marley had been getting her things together to get on a flight back to North Carolina. She had grabbed a couple of small items and haphazardly tossed them into her suitcase when she heard the knock on her door. The young woman didn’t bother checking who it was… Zara had left already, so the only person around in Canberra left to check on her was Cordelia. Imagine her surprise when she saw Dr. Talbot standing in the hallway.
“Oh! Hello, Dr. Talbot. Um… come in, please.”
Marley opened the door wider and stepped to the side to allow him to come into the room. Talbot nodded with a small smile and entered the room and he immediately noticed the thrown together suitcase.
“Going somewhere, my dear?”
Marley glanced at her bag then looked back at the therapist with a small shrug and a sigh.
“Home. Zara doesn’t need me at the last couple of shows she has before she goes to Dallas for Thanksgiving, and I’d rather be home alone for a few days versus forcing myself to be around people right now.”
Talbot nods and pushes his glasses up from the bridge of his nose over his eyes before he takes a seat on the edge of the bed and pats the space beside him and Marley takes a seat beside him.
“I understand. I came as soon as I heard about what happened. I have something very important that I need to speak to you abo--”
When Marley heard the Friday the 13th theme going off from her phone, her eyes lit up a little. She quickly grabbed her phone, a smile coming to her face for the first time in days when she saw Samuel’s name flashing on her phone for a video call. Out of the corner of her eye, she saw Dr. Talbot stand up before she answered the call. But the sight that met her when she did had her covering her mouth. Samuel was strapped to a chair, evidence of having been beaten all over his face from dried blood to his nose and lip being busted and accompanied by two black eyes. The young woman could see Gabriel Ohio standing off to one side of Samuel only for Dolores to walk in from the other side, joining the call as well.
“Samuel… oh dear lord…”
"𝔑𝔬𝔱 𝔴𝔥𝔞𝔱 𝔶𝔬𝔲 𝔢𝔵𝔭𝔢𝔠𝔱𝔢𝔡, 𝔤𝔯𝔢𝔢𝔫 𝔬𝔫𝔢?"
For a few seconds, Marley couldn’t find her words. Had it been any other sight, anyone else involved, she probably would have come up with some smartass comment, but everything just escaped her mind at that time. She swallowed hard, her throat suddenly feeling dry.
“Why?”
It was all Marley could muster to get out, her voice cracking a little.
"𝔚𝔥𝔶? 𝔅𝔢𝔠𝔞𝔲𝔰𝔢 𝔶𝔬𝔲 𝔡𝔬 𝔫𝔬𝔱 𝔩𝔦𝔰𝔱𝔢𝔫. 𝔑𝔬𝔫𝔢 𝔬𝔣 𝔶𝔬𝔲 𝔩𝔦𝔰𝔱𝔢𝔫."
Dolores laughs as she delicately runs her fingers down the side of the face of a semi-conscious Samuel, who flinches slightly when she touches one of the cuts.
"𝔑𝔬 𝔪𝔞𝔱𝔱𝔢𝔯 𝔥𝔬𝔴 𝔪𝔞𝔫𝔶 𝔱𝔦𝔪𝔢𝔰 ℑ 𝔱𝔬𝔩𝔡 𝔶𝔬𝔲 𝔱𝔬 𝔣𝔬𝔯𝔤𝔢𝔱 𝔞𝔟𝔬𝔲𝔱 𝔖𝔶𝔩𝔳𝔦𝔞. 𝔜𝔬𝔲 𝔧𝔲𝔰𝔱 𝔨𝔢𝔭𝔱 𝔬𝔫 𝔤𝔬𝔦𝔫𝔤. 𝔖𝔬 ℑ 𝔠𝔞𝔪𝔢 𝔲𝔭 𝔴𝔦𝔱𝔥 𝔞 𝔭𝔩𝔞𝔫... 𝔞𝔫𝔡 𝔩𝔲𝔠𝔨𝔦𝔩𝔶 𝔣𝔬𝔯 𝔪𝔢... 𝔥𝔞𝔩𝔣 𝔬𝔣 𝔱𝔥𝔞𝔱 𝔭𝔩𝔞𝔫 𝔠𝔞𝔪𝔢 𝔱𝔬 𝔪𝔢 𝔴𝔥𝔢𝔫 𝔪𝔶 𝔡𝔢𝔞𝔯 𝔟𝔯𝔬𝔱𝔥𝔢𝔯 𝔡𝔢𝔠𝔦𝔡𝔢𝔡 𝔱𝔬 𝔰𝔥𝔬𝔴 𝔥𝔦𝔰 𝔣𝔞𝔠𝔢."
“Leave him alone… don’t fucking touch him again!”
There were tears in the young woman’s eyes… whether they were from anger or the ache that she felt in her heart from what she was seeing and hearing, well, she wasn’t even sure at that moment. All she knew is that she wished transportation through phones were possible…
“What do you want, Dolores?”
"𝔗𝔥𝔢 𝔞𝔫𝔰𝔴𝔢𝔯 𝔱𝔬 𝔱𝔥𝔞𝔱 𝔦𝔰 𝔮𝔲𝔦𝔱𝔢 𝔰𝔦𝔪𝔭𝔩𝔢. 𝔜𝔬𝔲 𝔥𝔞𝔳𝔢 𝔞 𝔠𝔥𝔬𝔦𝔠𝔢 𝔱𝔬 𝔪𝔞𝔨𝔢. 𝔈𝔦𝔱𝔥𝔢𝔯 𝔶𝔬𝔲 𝔤𝔦𝔳𝔢 𝔲𝔭 𝔱𝔯𝔶𝔦𝔫𝔤 𝔱𝔬 𝔣𝔯𝔢𝔢 𝔖𝔶𝔩𝔳𝔦𝔞... 𝔬𝔯 𝔱𝔥𝔦𝔰 𝔰𝔥𝔞𝔩𝔩 𝔟𝔢 𝔱𝔥𝔢 𝔩𝔞𝔰𝔱 𝔱𝔦𝔪𝔢 𝔶𝔬𝔲 𝔢𝔳𝔢𝔯 𝔰𝔢𝔢 𝔖𝔞𝔪𝔲𝔢𝔩."
Those words left Marley stunned for a few seconds, but she shook her head in disbelief.
“You’re out of your mind, Dolores! Why would anyone make a fucking deal with you, let alone one like that!”
She rubbed her chin for a second before remembering Dr. Talbot was there. Admittedly, when she had answered the call, she had forgotten the man was there until she saw him trying to get her attention from the corner of her eye. Marley glances over to the psychiatrist and because he knows that she understands sign language from being with Samuel, he begins to sign to her.
“Accept the deal. I have a plan. You’re going to have to trust me.”
Marley bit her bottom lip as her gaze went back to her phone. She had no reason not to trust Dr. Talbot, but it didn’t stop her from having a pit of dread forming in her stomach. The young woman closed her eyes for a moment then let out a shaky sigh.
“I’ll… I’ll stop. Just don’t hurt Samuel anymore… please. Just let him come home to me… please.”
"𝔊𝔬𝔬𝔡 𝔞𝔫𝔰𝔴𝔢𝔯. 𝔚𝔢 𝔰𝔥𝔞𝔩𝔩 𝔯𝔢𝔩𝔢𝔞𝔰𝔢 𝔖𝔞𝔪𝔲𝔢𝔩 𝔟𝔞𝔠𝔨 𝔱𝔬 𝔶𝔬𝔲 𝔞𝔰 𝔰𝔬𝔬𝔫 𝔞𝔰 𝔱𝔥𝔢 𝔠𝔞𝔩𝔩 𝔢𝔫𝔡𝔰. 𝔉𝔞𝔯𝔢𝔴𝔢𝔩𝔩, 𝔤𝔯𝔢𝔢𝔫 𝔬𝔫𝔢."
The video call then ends and Marley is silent as she slowly places her phone down onto the bed as Talbot looks on.
“You did the right thing, my dear. And at least we know that Samuel is okay.”
Marley looked at her phone for a second before she turned her gaze toward Dr. Talbot, shaking her head a little.
“They beat the crap out of him, and I just traded one for the other, essentially. Nothing about this feels right, Dr. Talbot.”
The doctor sits back down beside Marley.
“You didn’t think that I would tell you to accept her demands if I did not have a plan did you, my dear?”
Talbot turns his gaze towards her and Marley eventually looks back at him.
“I have been taking care of both Sylvia and Samuel for years. They are like my children. And I would never ever sacrifice one over the other. I told you to accept that deal because this way, we at least still have a chance to get Sylvia back.”
“I haven’t had any reason to doubt you since we met. However, it doesn’t stop the pit in my stomach.”
The young woman let out a soft sigh.
“If you say we still have a chance then I believe you. This all just made it seem a little impossible, though.”
“The doll is the key… we destroy the doll and we can set Sylvia free. But for the moment we should stay away. Make it so they believe that we have truly given up on setting Sylvia free.”
Talbot gently places his hand on Marley’s shoulder.
“Go home. Tend to Samuel. Be there for him and make sure he knows that I have a plan and that we will execute it when the time is right. I promise we will get her back, my dear.”
Marley nodded a little, managing a weak smile as she looked at the therapist.
“I will… and thank you.”
With the help of his cane, he rises to his feet and begins to make his way towards the front door of the room. He takes hold of the handle and then pauses before looking over his shoulder back to the green-haired woman.
“I do hope that despite this incident that you still know how much you mean to Samuel, my dear. He loves you with all of his heart and that will never ever change. I hope you’re finally able to get some rest, and if you need me, you know how to contact me.”
Talbot then opens the door and takes his leave from the hotel room as the scene fades.
“Oh! Hello, Dr. Talbot. Um… come in, please.”
