PERSONALITY
Alignment:
Tweener
Gimmick:
Zoey is a stage magician and brings her sense of showmanship to wrestling while very much marching to the beat of her own drum. She used to live to bring smiles and joy to her audience while knowing there was a time and place for putting on a show and making a statement. Secure in her previous in-ring accomplishments, there is no pressure and less baggage weighing her down this time around. There are other changes, too, though... and not all of them will be to everyone's liking.
What Show Would You Prefer To Be On:
Collision - Red Brand
Entrance Theme:
"Better Without You" by Evanescence
Entrance Description:
The soft clicking of a music box crank can he heard, followed by soft, tinkling notes. After a few, they start to repeat before synthesizer and hard guitars hit. In the process of this, the lights dim but do not darken, with brighter lights shining up from beneath the stage through a purple haze.
"Stand in the front but shut up 'til I tell you to go
And don't get caught up in pretend, 'cause you're not in control
'Cause this is my world, little girl, you'd be lost on your own
Just hating and waiting and saving up"
Evanescence's "Better Without You" gets fully underway and a silhouette steps into view against the white lights shining beneath the big screen, framing the entrance to the stage. A top-hatted figure walks into view with hips popping stylishly. They come to the top of the ramp, admist the dissipating smoke, and take a bow while sweeping the hat off. It's tossed aside, along with her wand, both disappearing into thin air. The lights burst back to full strength, tinged with the same purple in the form of a spotlight following the revealed Zoey Madigan-Star as she heads down to the ring.
"I'll do you a favor and save you if you sign on the line
Don't worry your pretty little head about the future; it's all fine
Whether you're wrong or you're right doesn't matter; you're not up to the fight
Keeping my head down 'cause they don't know... what I know now
As empires fall to pieces
Our ashes twisting in the air
It makes me smile to know that
I'm better without you"
Somewhat uncharacteristically, Zoey does not meet the hands of the fans as she makes her way to the apron, turning to ascend the steps, wipe her soles on the apron and enter the squared circle. For certain they're offered smiles and a wave or two, but that's all; a far cry from what once was. There's a certain sharpness to her stare now, and a chill, too. She ascends the turnbuckles briefly after entering the ring, staring out at the fans before dropping down to the canvas, landing lightly. Walking to the corner, she removes her gloves and puts them into her hat which, like her wand, has somehow reappearing under the turnbuckles. Sitting on the top turnbuckle now, she crosses one leg over the other and relaxes, awaiting the start of the match with a calculating eye.
Favorite type of match:
Ironwoman, Best-of-Three-Falls
Least favorite type of match:
Matches with silly gimmicks
Favorite Weapon:
Her wand. It looks every bit like a standard magician's tool, a black length of material with white tips on both ends. However, the item is made of hardened steel and word is that it has a few gimmicks in it, though it is impossible to know what these are since no magician worth their salt would ever reveal their secrets.
Independent Circuit Debut:
August 2014 (Jersey Underground Wrestling)
Professional Debut:
October 2015 (Visionaires of Wrestling)
WRESTLING INFO
In-Ring Strengths:
She's Got Moves: Zoey prides herself on her stamina and flexibility. Many years of dancing and gymnastics, and the training routines that came with them, remain incorporated into her exercise regimen, allowing her to remain limber and full of energy when some opponents might be gassed. Twisting out of holds, evading them and more, Zoey excels at using her earned gifts to frustrate opponents.
Body of Knowledge: As a trained physical therapist working on her degree in kinesiology, Zoey knows intimately how the human body works. She can heal it and, in equal measure, she can hurt it as well. If she spots an opponent favoring a joint or other area of their body, she'll go after it. This doesn't escalate to the point of viciousness, but if it can get her a win, she can and will use her opponent's pain against them.
Underestimation and Evolution: Recent experiences have changed Zoey, and some would say that isn't for the better. She does not pander to the crowd nearly as much and sometimes flat-out ignores their presence. There is also a new sharpness to her execution and chilly proficiency to her wrestling as a whole. To say she has turned to the dark side would be drastic... but Zoey is definitely no longer concerned with the thoughts and feelings of most people, clearing the path between her and victory a bit.
In-Ring Flaws:
Other Kinds of Strength: Zoey's physical strength is not phenomenal. All the focus put on other facets of her physical game means something will get neglected and raw power is it. She is far from weak, but she won't win many feats of strength with opponents larger than her.
Rightfully Proud: She has every right to be proud of her accomplishments in and out of the ring. And she IS proud. This is not used against her, per se, but something that hurts from within. This used to come with a fear of letting people down, herself included, which landed her in bad situations from time to time. Now she gets into bad situations sometimes simply because her pride demands that she make a point.
No Chance Too Great: Zoey's moveset is broad and balanced, making her prepared for much of what an opponent could bring her way. But being a showman, some of those moves are very flashy... and very dangerous. In the midst of putting on the "Show of a Lifetime" she sometimes goes high-risk, and a cagey opponent can turn things against her. This is not as much of a failing as it used to be, seeing as how she cares less about the cheers of the masses, but once an entertainer...
Wrestling Style:
Zoey's style used to be centered around showmanship, with acrobatic, speedy attacks and flashy strikes. Now she more often calls upon her training in boxing and jujitsu, battering and twisting opponents until they're ready to give it up. She can and will fly when the situation warrants it, but she's more likely to go ground-and-pound these days... especially if her opponent happens to irk her somehow.
Wrestling Attire:
She typically has one of two looks, sometimes a mixture of both:
