This Saturday was no different from any other…at least that’s what she had hoped for after the last we ek or so that had happened. She, Matt, and the kids had just gotten back from Tenessee on Thursday…laying Alexander to rest had taken more out of her than she originally realized. Of course, nothing was ever normal, not with their lives. How could it be in all reality? They had 3 young kids and, technically but not quite yet, 5 grown ones…2 of which were still very active wrestlers. And those 2 were why they were all sitting in front of the television, watching New Frontier Wrestler’s Trauma show like they did every week. Bella couldn’t place it but she had an uneasy feeling as the show started.
”Probably just everything that’s been going on for the last week.” She brushed the feeling away, thinking no more of it until it came time for Adrianna’s match against Asmodeus. The feeling came back stronger, but she bit it back down again, trying not to dwell on it. As the match progressed, there were times she thought about sending Junior out of the room, but he knew as much as she did that the matches could get brutal and nasty. He knew it was part of their lives and had been for a long time. But when the lights went out, she knew he needed to leave. She could feel her husband tensing on the couch next to her, and it took everything in her to keep her voice calm. ”Junior…go to your room, now…” But mo-” Bella shot her eldest son a look that immediately silenced the child and made him pout as he got up and left the room.
Thankfully he left just in time…the lights were already back on in the arena and Adrianna was surrounded. It felt like hours had passed but she knew it was only a mere minute or two after Junior had left the room that the demons went after her step-daughter. Her breath hitched in her throat, her hand tightly clasped onto Matt’s wrist. When Abaddon started towards the ring, Bella’s other hand flew to her mouth, and she began shaking her head. She couldn’t tear her eyes away from the television, as much as she wanted to, but it became worse when they cut to the back and showed Lluvia being jumped as well. Her girls, both of her girls…they needed help and she couldn’t get to them. She moved to grab her phone, trying to think of someone she could call that she knew would be at the arena, anyone she could think of to get them help. Before she could grab her phone, the screen cut back to the ring. Bella just stopped going for her phone, her eyes glued back to the television again. Her hand was still hovering as she watched, but it was Lucifer’s voice that broke the trance she had seemed to be in and she knew no one would get out there in time even if she was able to reach someone. But what happened next..Lord it just added to the heartbreak she was still dealing with.
”Oh God…Adri…” When Adrianna hit the floor with that sickening thud, tears welled in her eyes and Matt leapt off of the couch. Bella wasted no time in getting in touch with Mary, asking a favor that she would never usually ask. They never had issues flying normally or even driving to their destination, but she knew neither of those would be fast enough for them. Without waiting for the woman she still considered another daughter to answer her since she was almost sure that it wouldn’t be a problem, she jumped up, going to her husband’s side, placing her hand on his arm to get his attention. When he looked at her, she saw a fire in his eyes that would have likely made anyone else shit themselves but not her. She put her other hand on his cheek, softly, and found that her voice was matching the gentle touches that she was using.
”Our bags are still packed from the last few days, I’ll get them in the car and get the kids ready. Mary’s lending us the jet…we’ll get there in no time. But you can’t go anywhere…she doesn’t need Doomsday right now, she needs her dad. She needs the man…not who the others call a monster.” Bella knew that it was unlikely she would get any type of verbal response, not right now. She placed a gentle, loving kiss on his arm, something meant to, at least for a few moments, bring him down a little. She couldn’t use the word calm…she knew that wouldn’t happen for a while. Wasting little time, she rushed to Junior’s room and told him to get his shoes on before she rushed to the babies’ room, frowning a little that they had to be woken from a deep sleep for the 2nd time in the span of a week but was also thankful at their resilience. She moved swiftly, getting the twins into their car seats, giving Junior his bag to carry to the car, and beginning to grab the other needed bags.
Bella’s mind was frenzied as she moved quickly…quickly but with determination, so she didn’t even notice that Matt had come out of the living room to help her. His state of mind may not have been in the best frame at the time, but he wouldn’t leave her to try and get everything and everyone out to the car alone. It didn’t take long at all before everyone and everything was loaded, this time with her driving to the private strip where the jet was. Subconsciously, she reached for Matt’s hand, givng it a gentle squeeze to remind him that she was there, wasn’t going anywhere. The ride was quiet minus Junior mumbling about not getting to finish the show and them having to leave so suddenly, but Bella didn’t bother dealing with the mumblings…he didn’t know what had happened and for good reason.
Being in the air, on the way to Chicago made the situation all the more real. Bella had randomly checked Twitter, giving simple reactions to some things like Rob Marino telling them to drop all of the kids with him and Kaede Tanabe, something she would remember to thank them for somehow, after they landed. Of course, checking Twitter was mostly to try to keep herself busy though she couldn’t stay on it and keep seeing the reactions. She had briefly spoken with Tahti, who had told her they were getting out there immediately as well, and made arrangements for a hotel room, but she knew that doing all of that was taking her away from keeping Matt grounded. Satisfied with the car seats being held down with the seatbelts of the jet and with Junior having fallen asleep in his seat, the woman looked over towards her husband who hadn’t moved a muscle since boarding. She glanced down at his hands, gripping the arms of the seats, his knuckles hospital sheet white.
”Oh Matt…” Bella had spoken softly as she pushed herself out of her own seat, moving to where she was in the jet’s aisle and by her husband’s side without anything really in the way. He was struggling, she knew it…he was fucking pissed, and she certainly knew that as well. She sank to her knees next to him, moving to be in front of him rather than beside him so she could look at him better. Her hands slowly moved to his hand, gently but strongly prying them away from the arms of the seat, sliding her fingers to where they intertwined with his. Given what she had done, his grip had lessened considerably in order to avoid hurting her, but she could feel the tension that had wrapped itself around him in a vice grip. The Cherokee woman let out a breath before she brought their entwined hands towards her face, gently kissing the back of his. She slowly and gently released his hands after a couple of quiet minutes, getting back to her feet to press a gentle kiss to the top of Matt’s head before lowering herself again to look at his face properly, and to make sure that he was at least paying attention a little.
”She’ll be okay…she’s a fucking Salvatore, after all. Whatever the result ends up being, she’ll be back in that ring stronger before any of us know it.” Bella had spoken softly but there was a confidence and fire in her voice that she wasn’t even aware she could muster at that time. She could see a little grimace pass over his face before his expression went back to blank. They were both thinking it but neither would say it outloud…What if Adri couldn’t? Swallowing a lump that had risen in her throat, the Cherokee woman pushed the thought from her mind, knowing she couldn’t think that way and be able to keep it together for those that needed her to.
Bella’s soft eyes searched his for a few moments before she took one of his hands in both of hers. She squeezed it gently then moved a hand to softly touch his cheek, her thumb rubbing against his skin. She had to gather her thoughts…had to figure out how to say everything she wanted to say, but she couldn’t put the words together. Instead of trying to force it out, she decided to keep it short and simple. Kissing the back of his hand again, she looked into his eyes again and softly spoke 3 words, ”Stay with me.”[/b]
