We open up to the front room of the home where Ronnie Lester, Una Quinn and Sylvia Lopez reside in Hayesville, North Carolina. Ronnie and Una are sitting on the couch having a discussion when Sylvia marches up to the couple clutching a small brown paper envelope and stops in front of them.
Una Quinn: Hey T, whatcha got there?
Sylvia looks down at the envelope briefly before turning her attention back to Una.
Sylvia Lopez: Money! Sylvia wants to go out shopping!
Una looks to Ronnie with a puzzled look, and has Sylvia come closer before putting a hand on her forehead.
Una Quinn: Okay, no fever. You said you wanted to go… shopping?
Ronnie Lester: It happens from time to time… what are we lookin’ for?
Sylvia’s cheeks turn red as she looks to the floor and begins to play with her hair.
Sylvia Lopez: Sylvia wants to buy a ring for her Sapphire!
Ronnie nods.
Ronnie Lester: Is this kind of ring I think you’re wantin’?
Sylvia nods.
Sylvia Lopez: Sylvia wants to spend the rest of her life with Dakota! Sylvia loves her very much!
Ronnie nods again.
Ronnie Lester: Right, okay, so… Vintage Butterfly in Blairsville, here we come!
Sylvia’s eyes light up and a big toothy grin grows on her face as Ronnie and Una get to their feet to get ready for their trip as we fade out.
Later that day…
The scene re-opens inside the Vintage Butterfly in Blairsville as Ronnie, Una and Sylvia are all looking at the rings on display. Sylvia is completely covered up, her hood up over her head, a face mask and a pair of sunglasses due to her not being comfortable out in public and around people she doesn’t know. After a few moments, a man who works for the store approaches the trio.
Man: Hello there, welcome to the Vintage Butterfly. May I help you in any way?
Sylvia immediately moves behind Ronnie and Una while keeping her glare focused on the man who, in her mind, has disturbed them as Ronnie nods.
Ronnie Lester: Yeah, we’re lookin’ for an engagement ring for this woman…
He pops up his phone with a photo of Dakota on it.
Ronnie Lester: Her name’s Dakota and she means a lot to us.
Una smiles for the man.
Una Quinn: We can afford the good ones as well.
The man nods and brings out a selection of bands.
Man: Do you know what kind of setting you’re looking for? Gold, white gold, etc?
Ronnie glances back at Sylvia.
Ronnie Lester: Whatcha thinks looks purdy, Timber?
Sylvia leans forward a little and scans the selection of rings available and spots one made of white gold decorated with a blue sapphire and she points at it.
Sylvia Lopez: That one!
Una nods her approval.
Una Quinn: It is beautiful!
Ronnie smiles.
Ronnie Lester: Dakota is a right proper sapphire, ain’t she? Yeah, I think that one's a winner.
The man nods and works quickly to package it up for them.
Sylvia Lopez: Sylvia hopes she says yes!
Ronnie Lester: I’m sure we’ll get the answer we're lookin’ for.
The man then returns with the ring in its packaging.
Man: Will you be paying by cash or card today, sir?
Sylvia then places the envelope of cash she brought with her into Ronnie’s hand out of sight of the man.
Ronnie Lester: I believe this should cover it, sir?
The man checks it and nods, quickly handing back the remainder.
Man: Y’all have a blessed day now.
Ronnie Lester: You too, pleasure doin’ business with ya.
The three then turn and exit the shop as the scene fades out.
The following day…
The scene re-opens as we find Sylvia sitting under her favorite tree enjoying a picnic with her Sapphire, Dakota Winters. The picnic had been prepared in advance by Ronnie and Una, and even though it was a beautiful, peaceful day, given what Sylvia had planned? She was noticeably nervous over what she was about to do. Dakota was enjoying the day, but even she sensed something was off with Sylvia, but she couldn't quite figure out what it was. She smiled, taking a sip of her drink, looking right at her girlfriend.
Dakota Winters: Everything okay, Sylvie? You seem nervous about something.
The Bellevue Banshee begins to play with her fingers, struggling to make eye contact with the woman she loves.
Sylvia Lopez: Sylvia is about to do something she has never done before! And she doesn’t know how to do it!
Dakota looked even more confused now, but she couldn't help but smile at just how nervous Sylvia was and it was kind of cute to her.
Dakota Winters: Sometimes it's just best to do it and not think about it.
Sylvia nods before then reaching into her jacket pocket with one hand and taking hold of Dakota’s hand with the other and then quickly puts the blue velvet box with the ring in it into the blue-haired interviewer’s hand before looking back down to the floor. Dakota smiles, knowing the size of the box and what was likely inside. It all clicked for her now.
Dakota Winters: Is there something you wanted to ask me?
Sylvia Lopez: Sylvia…
The Bellevue Banshee takes a deep breath.
Sylvia Lopez: Sylvia… would like to know… if you would… if you would marry her!
Dakota's smile grows as she holds her hand out, ready for Sylvia to put the ring on as she nods her head.
Dakota Winters: Yes… yes, a million times yes…
Sylvia shoots a look at Dakota, as though she didn’t expect her to give the answer she just gave. The Bellevue Banshee smiles widely as she opens up the box to reveal the white gold band decorated with a blue sapphire and she removes it from said box and slides it onto Dakota’s ring finger.
Sylvia Lopez: Sylvia is happy! Sylvia is happy!!! SYLVIA IS HAPPY!!!
Dakota looks at the ring for just a moment, admiring it before she wraps her arms around Sylvia and gives her a kiss.
Dakota Winters: I love you so much.
Sylvia Lopez: Sylvia loves you too!
The camera then slowly pans away from the newly engaged couple in one another’s arms before the scene fades.
Una Quinn: Hey T, whatcha got there?
