The scene opens on the bedroom belonging to Sylvia Lopez and we see the woman herself sitting cross-legged on her bed. In her hand is a photograph that she is looking down at, her long dark brown hair covering most of her face, however a few tears can be seen rolling down the Bellevue Banshee’s cheeks as her girlfriend, Dakota Winters, appears in the doorway. Dakota sees Sylvia and immediately, a look of concern wipes away any sort of smile she had when she appeared in the doorway. She immediately made her way over to the bed and sat down beside Sylvia and wrapped her arm around her girlfriend and pulled her in tight.
Dakota Winters: What’s wrong, baby?
Sylvia Lopez: Why didn’t they love Sylvia?! Why does Sylvia still feel sad when she looks at this picture?! Sylvia doesn’t understand!
Lopez shows the photograph to Winters and it’s of the Bellevue Banshee when she was a little girl with an older couple, presumably her parents. Even in the picture, you can sense the lack of love and care as Lopez is the only one smiling in said photo. Dakota looks at the picture, then back at Sylvia and she holds the woman close and kisses her on the cheek before wiping tears from Sylvia’s eyes.
Dakota Winters: I don’t know, sweetie… I wish I knew or wish I could ask them and find out why for you… they don’t know what they missed out on though…
Dakota sighs and she looks at Sylvia and brings her head up to look Sylvia in the eyes.
Dakota Winters: They’re the ones who fucked up, not you.
Lopez glances off into the distance briefly before looking back down at the picture.
Sylvia Lopez: Sylvia’s mother had a strong belief in God! She would force Sylvia to read the Bible every day! As soon as Sylvia would return home from school, she would have to read the Bible! She was never allowed to go out and play like the others! And if Sylvia tried to argue?!
The Bellevue Banshee turns away from her girlfriend and lifts up her shirt to reveal her back, completely covered in scars.
Sylvia Lopez: She would whip Sylvia’s back with a belt!
Dakota looks at Sylvia’s back and her eyes go wide and she wipes a tear from them as she just wraps her arms around Sylvia and holds onto her.
Dakota Winters: Oh my God… I ummm… that’s awful… that should never ever happen to anybody. I’m so sorry you went through all of that…
Sylvia Lopez: And Sylvia’s father… he knew this was happening! All of it! He was even a police officer! And yet… he did nothing to stop it! Instead… when Sylvia finally decided enough was enough and went to the police herself to get justice?! Sylvia’s father denied any of it happened! He deemed Sylvia insane! And then Sylvia ended up in… that place!
Lopez begins to shake a little and pulls at her hair as the awful, painful memories of her childhood flood through her brain.
Sylvia Lopez: Sylvia just wanted to be loved! Sylvia just wanted to be loved!!! SYLVIA JUST WANTED TO BE LOVED!!!
Dakota pulls Sylvia’s hands away from her hair and she holds onto them with hers. She looks Sylvia in the eyes, the look of concern growing with each passing second. She takes a deep breath and she squeezes Sylvia’s hands.
Dakota Winters: Baby, you are loved… you have people who care and love you, most of all me… I love you Sylvia, with all my heart…
Lopez glances down for a split second and then back up to Winters, at first she seems a bit lost for words and she points to the blue-haired beauty in front of her and then to herself.
Sylvia Lopez: You… love Sylvia?!
Dakota nods her head and smiles softly as she looks at Sylvia.
Dakota Winters: I do… I love you so damn much…
The Bellevue Banshee lifts Winters’ hands up to her own face and nuzzles them before giving them a kiss.
Sylvia Lopez: Sylvia loves you too! Sylvia has loved you ever since you got her her book! But Sylvia was afraid to say anything in case it was too soon!
Dakota Winters: There was something about that first date that just sent me head over heels for you… I knew from that moment that I loved you…
Dakota smiles as she leans her head down and her lips meet Sylvia’s for a quick, loving kiss.
Dakota Winters: And you’ll never ever lose me.
Lopez looks at the photo again and then suddenly tears it into pieces before wrapping her arms around Winters in a tight embrace.
Sylvia Lopez: Sylvia loves her Sapphire! Sylvia is happy!
Dakota wraps her arms around Sylvia and holds her tight. She kisses Sylvia on the top of the head and just holds onto her, looking at the torn up picture now on the floor and she smiles softly.
Dakota Winters: And I’m so happy too… you’re so absolutely amazing and wonderful…
It’s at that moment when Ronnie Lester appears at the doorway and is about to knock when he notices his close friend in the embrace of her girlfriend and he pauses. Winters sensing his presence slowly turns her head towards the doorway and Lester gives her a knowing nod and a smile before disappearing, leaving the two in their embrace as the scene fades.
