Finally, at the end of the highlight reel, we see the last shot of the night as "Switchblade" Jay White gives his arrogant, half-crazed smile into the camera with Adam Cole leading the crowd in his chant behind him. The screen switches to the NFW logo and the word 'Aftershock' SLAMS hard down onto it, cracking the logo like concrete.
The screen switches, then, to the inside of the production room of NFW. Standing in front of a massive display screen that will roll the segments for him to view while the fans view it on full screen, Jason Hardwick stands, dressed as always in semi-formal wear. Basically he's wearing a suit minus the tie and jacket with the sleeves of his shirt neatly rolled up to his elbows.
"Hey, what's going on, everybody? Jason Hardwick here, coming at you with another episode of Aftershock. Before we begin, I wanna inform all viewers: we used to air these exclusively to our Facebook page but starting from now on, you get check these exclusive segments out on our streaming page. Remember, folks! This is Aftershock. Exclusive backstage interviews, footage, follow ups. You won't see this on our regular broadcasts. These usually happen backstage while the show's still going on. That's why I never wear a jacket. I'm running around, getting these interviews for you guys. Gets tiring, but I love my job. Ethan Skinner wants to take it from me, but I've got a contract. SO!"
He claps his hands, bringing them up together with a self humored smirk.
"Getting down to business! We had a great show, this week! Couple of ups and a couple of lows. Not really any boring bits, but not all high moments. I'll get to that later. Let's talk about our opener, guys. Now, last week, we saw the newest member of the Dominion of Pain - Darius Crowley - come out and he applauded the Ragman, Jag'hatai D'habi on another impressive victory. Shortly after that, he went onto social media and he called D'habi out. He said it was his trial to proving his worth to the Dominion. To Judas Lasher. To Lara Blackheart. Those two guys, both undefeated here in NFW, met up tonight in singles action and...well...if you missed it, check this out."
The screen cuts to a recap of the match between D'habi and Crowly. It's a short collaboration of the high moments.
- D'habi hits a German Suplex on Crowley who manages to use his own momentum to land on his feet. Crowley runs in for a Shining Wizard. D'habi smacks his foot out of the air and knocks him on his back. D'habi goes for a standing Senton onto Crowley, who brings his knees up, causing D'habi to land painfully on his back.
Flash cut.
- Crowley and D'habi are engaged in a fast paced exchange of chain wrestling. Crowley feints on an armdrag and hits D'habi with a stiff chop to the chest that echoes through the arena with a 'POP!' D'habi reels, clutching his chest. Crowley sees an opening and goes for a running, handspring attack. D'habi, biting through the pain in his chest, catches Crowley out of the air and hits a running powerslam. Crowley pops up into a sitting position with his hand on his back, reeling in pain.
Flash cut.
- D'habi and Crowley are in the middle of their strike exchange. Chops to the chest from D'habi. Forearms to the jaw from Crowley. D'habi cocks back and hits a particularly stiff chop to Crowley's chest, quickly following with a spinning back elbow. Crowley spins around with his back to D'habi. He looks dazed but goes for a Pele Kick. D'habi catches him by the foot and twists him right up into an STF.
Flash cut.
- The climax of the match. Crowley finishes his signature combo on D'habi, kneeing him in the head. He sets up for the Straight to Mordor. D'habi reverses and hits him with a German Suplex. Crowley pops up but D'habi's right there to irish whip him into the turnbuckle, begnning Cloth's Whip. As D'habi rushes in for the second part of the move, Crowley catches him with a Pele Kick. Spit goes flying. D'habi and Crowley both hit the mat. Crowley crawls towards D'habi just as the bell rings to signal the 20:00 time limit.
The cameras jump back to Jason Hardwick in the studio with a wide eyed look of amusement on his face.
"Wooooooow, right? That's how you kick an episode of NFW off, if ya ask me! Those guys went to a draw! The Ragman is still undefeated and the Son of the Damned, I guess you can say did not complete his self-proclaimed trial. We caught up with Darius Crowley moments after that match to see if we could get a word from him. Nonetheless, he had something interesting to say."
Jason points to the camera as the shot jumps to the backstage area of the Mississippi Coliseum, moments after the match. At the Gorilla position, Darius Crowley steps through the curtain, catching his breath. Sweat runs down his face and body as he hands the icepack given to him at ringside over to a stagehand. He stops in front of the interview backdrop. Offscreen, we hear Jason Hardwick behind the camera.
"Darius, that was an amazing match. How do you feel about it?"
"How do I feel?"
Darius pauses, resting his hands on his hips as he looks up at the ceiling, still catching his breath. Finally, he looks passed the camera at Jason Hardwick.
"You ask such puzzling questions. How do I feel? I am thrilled! Most would be disappointed, but I am intrigued by the heart and dedication of my opponent. I digress, I thought him to be a fluke, at first. Tonight, he proved otherwise. He showed me that he is not easily beaten. However...."
Darius raises a finger up to make his point, keeping that calm, cool composure.
"However...I have shown him that I will not so easily become another notch on his belt. I will take him on until one of us has been defeated." He turns towards the camera then. "Ragman. I wanna thank you for such an adrenaline rush, this evening. We are far from finished. I will see you again. Ave...Satanas." Darius puts his hands together in prayer, bows his head and continues his walk to the locker room.
The camera snaps back to Jason Hardwick in the studio.
"So you heard it, straight from the man himself, Darius Crowley. He is not finished with Jag'hatai D'habi. He wants to meet him in the ring again. When will we see that? No clue. But you better believe, the Son of the Damned will be watching the Ragman very closely and if I could wager a guess? I'd say the Ragman'll be watching right back! We're gonna take a quick look at our sponsors, but we'll be back with more Aftershock coverage. Don't go away!"
Tore Fagerheim's "Adrenaline Rush" resumes over the Aftershock logo as the segment fades out.
