Day 4 of the VBMT/QOTF Tournaments
After Vincent Stone's match against Miguel Villalobos
Lost. Again. For training so hard and busting ass, he wasn’t really having a good start in the Vlad Blackheart Memorial Tournament. Vincent Stone finished his post-match interview and stepped through the doors, starting to unwrap his hands as he made his way to the locker room. Christ, it hurt just to move his upper arms. It wasn’t so much there that hurt, but it caused a little pain in his chest where Miguel Villalobos had chopped him like a slab of meat. Wolf King indeed and Vin had been the prey. Maybe he hadn’t trained hard enough. Maybe he could have fought a little harder in that match. Or maybe he should have been more focused. He’d be the first to admit, his mind wasn’t entirely on this tournament. It should have been. Focus had never been an issue for him before. But then he’d never had anything else to worry about before.
Now, though, his mind often drifted elsewhere ever since the sudden departure of Shelley Silver and the Smalls Twins. They’d all just up and left together with rumors floating around. Mostly about Shelley. Rumors circulating around from her having a disagreement with Elizabeth Greene to even popping positive for PEDs. Now Vin had immediately scoffed at the mention of the latter. He didn’t know Shelley terribly well but he knew her enough to know steroids weren’t her thing. It went against her whole honor system and warrior mindset. Still, it sucked having them go and to go as suddenly as they did. Now they were down a champion. They had a vacant belt. Two of their tag team divisions took a hit which were already hurting to begin with.
Vin couldn’t have cared less about that, at the moment, though. He was distracted by the departure of one person in particular. She’d never given any hint of wanting to leave. Any displeasure in the company. And hell...they seemed good as a couple. Kyle had recently told him that Kimi was smiling more recently ever since she and Vin became official. Vin was certainly happy with how things were going. But, the leave had come so sudden and without a word that it left Vin wondering what had gone wrong. He’d called and spoken with her shortly following the departure of she, her brother and Shelley. She assured him that nothing was wrong but contact had been scarce between them for the most part. Vin had to try and focus on the tournament and Kimi said she had something to take care of.
It still left a worried feeling deep in his gut, though. Was there just something he was missing? Was she waiting to break it off after the tournament so it didn’t break his concentration? Vin didn’t know and he didn’t want to think about it, right then. The thought was just making him feel worse. That being said, he had no idea when he’d even speak with her or see her face to face again with how the past couple weeks had been going. Needless to say, it was what left him the most surprised when he finished pulling his hand wraps, wincing as he opened the door and stepped through the door to his locker room.
His chest red with bruises in the shape of Miguel Villalobos’ big ass hand prints. He was pretty sure he had a bruised jaw from that forearm that nearly knocked his mouth piece out. But all of that almost immediately slipped his mind as he stepped inside and closed the door, to see her sitting across the room, watching the screen as the next match took place. Vin was surprised, to say the least as he tried to think of what to say. All that came out was her name. “Kimi…?”
Leaving so abruptly wasn’t exactly Kimi’s choice. Part of it was because of the fact that her and her brother’s contracts were tied into Shelley’s, as contrived as that sounded. Still, the timing couldn’t have actually been better. Kyle wrapped up on principle filming of Titans season two and got a new movie role where Kimi? Yeah that? That was another story entirely. She knew exactly why Shelley chose to leave, but she just wished that it wasn’t so sudden. You know… despite Shelley voicing her complaints about NFW for weeks before she just up and left.
After watching a long, seeing “Queen Cthulhu” in her second brutal match, she was suddenly glad that she was no longer in the tournament. Not to mention, she was sure that Eddy Poe wasn’t done with them. That was even worse. She had heard the basic version of what had happened to her ex-mother-in-law when she was with Ace, and she was afraid that the same could happen to her with the baby that she was carrying. She didn’t need to hear the details to know how horrible that was.
When Vin walked into the room, she looked up with a soft smile, “hey baby, miss me?” She stood up, carefully walking over to him.
Vin met Kimi halfway, reaching out and pulling her in by the waist for a hug before pressing a kiss to her lips that could have been the answer Kimi was waiting for in and of itself if he had wanted it to be. But he knew Kimi and how she liked to actually hear it. For a moment, Vin forgot the aching soreness in his body from having Villalobos, essentially, beat the tar out of him. He brought his hands up to cup Kimi’s face and pressed his forehead to hers with a relieved smile. “You know I did….” He said, lightly brushing his fingers on one hand down her cheek. Vin stole another kiss from her before taking her hands into his and looked her over. Yup. Still beautiful as ever, and as always. And yup, from her words? Still his. “Everything okay? I got kinda worried when you all just bounced.”
“Yeah, sorry about that,” Kimi frowned. “I had to make sure that Kyle was secure on his new set before reappearing, and even so… I have to watch out where I’m going and what I’m doing. I’m probably going to go completely batshit by the time I’m able to get back into the ring,” she laughed softly, shaking her head.
Kimi was laughing but Vin’s smile shifted into a look of concern and worry. “Able to…?” He let go of her hands and took her gently by the shoulders, before tilting her chin up to look directly at him. “Babe, did you get hurt? Is that why you left?” He looked her over again. She certainly looked fine. “What’s going on, Kim? I’m getting that worried feeling coming back.”
“Worried isn’t too off-base,” Kimi nodded slowly. “I’m not hurt, though. I just don’t trust some of the people around here. With this news, who knows what they’d do. I could have competed longer, but with the way that Alex is tearing through her opponents, I think that I made the right decision.”
Vin stood there, holding her shoulders still. “Mmh. Yeah, Alex is….” He sighed and shook his head. “I don’t know what’s going on with her. I mean, I kinda do but I don’t at the same time.” He reached up to brush a few strands of hair away from Kimi’s face. “What news, though? What are you talking about? Trust people with what?”
“Alex really loved Lilith. We could see it all over her face. Plus, that was probably the most messed up way to break up with someone,” she shrugged, sighing. That was actually Shelley’s final straw, but she held out for a bit longer after that. “My news is something a little bit happier,” she tilted her head, “or well… I hope that it makes you happy. We’re having a baby, Vin.”
Vin’s smile faded from his face, only to be replaced by one that said he was taking in the news he’d just been given. Once he had, his smile came back as he gently squeezed Kimi’s shoulders. “Wait...what? You...you’re serious?!” Them? A baby? He pulled Kimi in for another hug, only able to get out a short laugh of disbelief...but happiness. He lifted her head up again and placed soft kisses on her lips. “Baby, that’s amazing. I don’t know what to say. I mean...whoo...kinda nervous now…. We have a lot to do, huh? But we can do this. I love you, Kimi.”
Kimi took a deep breath, nodding. “Yes, I’m definitely serious I’m just glad that my body waited until I was with you. There was too much shady shit and drama going with my ex-husband. I just wish I could have taken his little girl with me when I left him.” She paused, kissing him again before whispering, “I love you, too.”
